Help Us Open Doors To Opportunity

By Rod Granger

“Opening the Doors to Opportunity,” the theme of our soon to be launched End-of-Year Appeal, reflects both our mission and this pivotal moment for our community.

As we settle into our new home at 520 Eighth Avenue, we are reminded that every door we open – both literally and figuratively – represents safety, stability, and the chance for all to build a better future. We are deepening our commitment to every person who walks through our doors, but we do so in a time of deep concern. In recent weeks, several Riverside alumni – and even a current student – have been detained by ICE.

These are not statistics; they are members of the Riverside community who we have taught, advised, and stood with as they built new lives. Their detentions are shocking and painful reminders of the urgency of our work. As we have expanded our space, our mission must now, more than ever, also include expanding protection, advocacy, and access to justice.

Your year-end gift ensures we can respond rapidly, connecting families to legal representation, informing people of their rights, and helping to ensure that every immigrant New Yorker finds a community ready to stand with them. Your support keeps the doors of opportunity open today, tomorrow, and beyond.
